Spring STEM after school programs for kids in Brooklyn give children opportunities to explore science, experiment with new ideas, and build confidence through hands-on learning. Brooklyn Science Spot’s Winter 2027 Session features engaging STEM and STEAM classes designed for children of different ages and interests.
From chemistry and cooking experiments to mystery matter and exciting chemical reactions, each class encourages children to ask questions, make discoveries, solve problems, and learn through active participation. Families can choose from several winter science classes offered on select weekdays from March through June.

September through December
Roar, Roar Dinosaur: (Playgroup)
Learn about body defense weapons by creating your very own extinct dinosaur. Take part in the dino-dig, where you use your brushes and picks to hunt for dinosaur bones. How big were the dinosaurs? Let’s replicate how big their feet really were and measure up to them. Become a paleontologist and learn how to make impressions of dinosaur bones and shark teeth. Replicate the La Brea Tar Pits, and see exactly why prehistoric animals got trapped in these giant pools of slime. Next session is full of great dinosaur fun, so hurry up, don’t hesitate, get here and run.

Rock Mock: (Ages 5-7)
Step into the Brooklyn Science Spot time machine and travel back to the days of the dinosaurs and have a Jurassic time. Scientists will become paleontologists digging for fossil treasures and experiencing the wonders of life over 65 million years ago. Replicate the La Brea Tar Pits and see exactly why the dinosaurs were unable to escape. Excavate and investigate through our Brooklyn Science Spot soil and discover amazing fossils such as petrified wood, dinosaur bones, fossil shark teeth, fossil coral, ammonites, trilobites, and many others. Take part in our bone yard dig, where you will uncover the remains of dinosaurs such as the T. rex or Triceratops. Can you put the dinosaur back together again? Let the dinosaurs come back from extinction, the Carmelo the Science Fellow way.

Desertology: (Ages 8-10)
Become your very own Indiana Jones, and see why archaeology is such an amazing science. Learn how to build pyramids and see just how innovative the ancient Egyptians really were. Dig through your very own pyramid and see what relic you just might find. Create your very own quicksand pit, and see why it is so deadly. Learn about erosion and weathering by creating sandstorms that will destroy any structure that you create. Like mummies, learn how to mummify like the ancient Egyptians and see how amazing this technique truly is. Work with desert animals like tarantulas and scorpions. Scary! All this and more will take place this spring session.
