Rock On! Junior Geologists
A One-Day Workshop on Our Amazing Earth
What’s under our feet? Your young scientist will spend the day finding out. In Rock On!, kids become real geologists: they dig into Earth’s layers, make a volcano erupt, investigate rocks like detectives, and crack open geodes to find the crystals hidden inside.
Every activity is hands-on and built around kids’ own questions. Children make predictions, test their ideas, and talk about what they discover, just like real scientists.
Here’s what junior geologists will do:
Play-Dough Planet: Build a model of the Earth, layer by layer, then slice it open to see the crust, mantle, and core.
Rock Detectives: Use magnifying glasses and simple tests to sort rocks into the three rock families.
Crayon Rock Cycle: Turn crayon “rocks” into new rocks and see how rocks change over time.
Volcano Eruption Lab: Mix up a bubbling eruption and learn how magma rises to the surface.
Geode Crack-Open: Crack open a real geode and reveal the sparkling crystals inside.
Every child goes home with:
A Junior Geologist certificate
Their very own geode
A take-home bag of rock treasures
Small groups mean lots of personal attention, and everyone wears safety goggles for every eruption and rock test. Kids come home with dirty hands, big smiles, and plenty to tell you about our amazing Earth.
We limit spots to 20 junior geologists. Reserve today.
- Ages 5–8 • 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM • Up to 15 kids

Air, Air Everywhere!
A One-Day Workshop on Flight and Air Resistance
You can’t see air, but it’s real. It takes up space, it pushes on everything, and it can slow things down or hold them up. In Air, Air Everywhere!, young engineers learn the four forces of flight (lift, weight, thrust, and drag) by building, testing, and improving things that fly.
Every activity is hands-on and follows the engineering cycle that real engineers use: Ask, Imagine, Build, Test, Improve. Kids make predictions, run their own tests, change one thing at a time, and cheer as their designs take off.
Here’s what young engineers will do:
The Great Falling Race: Catch air in a bag, then race flat paper against crumpled paper to see how air slows things down.
Parachute Drop Lab: Design a parachute and test which canopy gives a toy paratrooper the softest landing.
Whirling Paper Helicopters: Build paper helicopters and watch them spin to the ground.
Paper Airplane Flight School: Fold, fly, and improve airplanes to see whose design flies farthest.
Balloon Rocket Racers: Power a racer with balloon air and see thrust in action.
Straw Rocket Launch: Build and launch straw rockets on the “3-2-1… LAUNCH!” countdown.
Every child goes home with:
A Pilot’s License certificate
Their own parachute, helicopter, paper airplane, and straw rocket
A take-home bag and a flight challenge to try with the family
Groups are small, so every child gets attention, and everyone wears safety goggles for every launch and drop. In morning circle, we’ll also thank the veterans who served in the air and on the ground.
- Ages 5–11 • 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM • Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11
- Spots are limited. Reserve your young engineer's seat today.
