Core purpose
The mission of Brooklyn Science Spot is to use science as the engine that powers every kind of fun—afterschool, field trips, birthday parties, camps, and weekly classes—so kids are learning math, language, creativity, and social-emotional skills while they’re busy building, mixing, and laughing with friends. We exist to create a playful science hangout where a child’s sense of wonder is the star of the show, and where asking “why?” and “what if?” is not only welcomed but built into every club, class, and celebration we offer.
At Brooklyn Science Spot, kids might launch rockets in an afterschool session, meet live creatures on a school trip, make glowing slime at a birthday party, or spend a whole camp week exploring dinosaurs, bugs, pirates, or outer space—but underneath it all, they’re practicing real scientific thinking through hands-on inquiry and discovery. Every experience is designed to feel like play first and “learning” second, so children leave excited, confident, and already asking when they can come back for more.
Learning philosophy
Brooklyn Science Spot is built on the belief that young children learn best through hands-on, inquiry-based experiences that invite them to touch, test, build, and revise their ideas. Our integrated, science-rich curriculum embraces the principles of STEAM, using real materials, living creatures, simple machines, and open-ended challenges to spark curiosity and deepen understanding.
